In 2017, designer Jana Ann shook up TLC’s show Curvy Brides. Five years later, Ann is revolutionizing bridal fashion with her new line of 40 tailor-made plus size wedding dresses. As the founder of Jana Ann Couture, based in San Diego, she has set out to give curvy brides the largest selection of wedding dresses available.

“Women shouldn’t have to settle for a dress simply because it fits despite it not being attractive,” Jana Ann said. “Regardless of body shape and size, women should have the option to select dresses on style and personal taste, and not merely due to it fitting.”

Previously there was little variety for plus size women and Jana Ann wants to stop them from settling for a dress they don’t love. On their Instagram and various testimonials, people can find the dresses and stories of brides who have worn them. Jana Ann believes that on their big day curvy women shouldn’t be shamed or uncomfortable in a dress they don’t want to wear. 

“Finding the right dress for one’s wedding is not just a fashion statement, but it is a moment of great significance,” Jana Ann said. “As a result, my personal mission is to assist brides in bringing to life the dress which they feel is most representative of their personality.”

Having studied engineering before entering fashion, Jana Ann has an understanding of proportion and design principles which helps her create unique pieces for her clients. Through Jana Ann Couture, plus size women now have an option they never had before: feeling beautiful on their wedding day both inside and out!
